Finding time to exercise as a busy mom can feel impossible. Between work, family commitments, and daily chores, fitness often takes a backseat. Trust me, I know—I’ve been on the struggle bus, too! But staying active is crucial for your health and well-being, and it doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym.

Here are practical workout tips for busy moms to help you stay fit, energized, and connected to your family, even on your busiest days.

Simple Workout Tips for Busy Moms Who Want Real Results

Prioritize Steps Throughout Your Day

Incorporating more movement into your daily routine doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re chasing your kids around the yard, walking with the stroller, or getting steps in on the treadmill while babywearing, every bit counts. It all adds up over time and makes a big difference!

Bonus Tip: Use a step-tracking app or smartwatch to set daily step goals. I love StepsApp! Tracking your progress can be surprisingly motivating and helps you celebrate those small wins.

Workout with Your Littles

Including your kids in your workouts is a great way to combine quality time with fitness. Dance parties are a favorite in our house—they’re fun and burn energy for both me and the kids! You can also create a safe space for your littles in your workout area. We’ve gated off a section with toys they only use during workout time, and if all else fails, we turn on the TV.

Bonus Tip: Buy baby weights! My littles are getting them for Christmas this year. Ella loves copying me, so I thought they’d be a fun addition to our home gym.

Break Workouts Into Mini-Circuits

Sometimes, all you need is five or ten minutes to make progress. Short bursts of exercise throughout the day can add up, especially if you focus on one circuit at a time.

One of my favorite tools is the Moves app. It takes the brainpower out of workout programming! Each workout is already broken into circuits, so it’s easy to tackle them throughout the day if needed. Focusing on one circuit at a time makes workouts feel achievable, even on the busiest days.

Stretch and Unwind

If a full workout feels out of reach, stretching or light yoga can still benefit your body and mind. Stretching helps relieve tension, improve flexibility, and give you a moment of calm in a busy day. Ella and I even do it together as part of her bedtime routine—it’s such a sweet way to wind down as a family.

Give Yourself Grace

Remember, this is a season of life. Your fitness priorities might shift, and that’s okay. The goal is to find joy in movement, however small it may be. Celebrate what you can do, and don’t dwell on what you can’t.

Consistency over perfection is what truly makes a difference. Even small, consistent efforts can lead to meaningful progress over time.

Stay Active as a Busy Mom

Staying active doesn’t have to be time-consuming or overwhelming. By integrating these simple workout tips into your routine, you can maintain your health and well-being while enjoying time with your family.
