I used to love planning my week on Sundays.
Before kids, it was my favorite way to ease into the day. I’d sit down with a paper planner, a cup of coffee, and map out my calendar, to-do list, goals, groceries… the whole thing. That rhythm grounded me, especially when life felt uncertain or full.
And then everything changed.
After I had my first baby and lost my job within months of each other, I tried so hard to bring that routine back — but nothing stuck. My old system didn’t fit anymore. I’d set business goals but forget the personal ones. I’d double-book doctor’s appointments because I forgot to check with my husband. I was forgetting things constantly, even things I never used to miss.
And once I had two kids? Forget it. What kind of week I was planning for changed every seven days depending on teething, illness, school closures, nap strikes, or plain exhaustion.
It took a lot of trial and error, but I finally created a weekly reset routine that works for this season of life. It’s flexible, forgiving, and — most importantly — realistic.
It’s what inspired me to create The Simplified Weekly Reset™.
Why a Weekly Reset Routine Always Matters (Even When Life Is a Lot)
When you’re in survival mode, a weekly reset might feel like one more thing to do. And I get it — there are weeks when mine doesn’t happen at all (or happens on a Tuesday instead of Sunday).
But having a rhythm to return to — even when the wheels fall off — is powerful.
Because as moms, we’re juggling so much:
- Calendar chaos (preschool pickups, doctor’s appointments, partner travel…)
- Invisible tasks no one else sees
- Personal goals that keep getting buried under snack duty
A weekly reset routine gives you space to:
- Catch up without starting over
- Plan like a team with your partner
- Make sure your goals don’t get lost in the mix
You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need one that supports you.
7 Simple Tweaks for a Weekly Reset Routine That Works
1. Review Your Week Before It Starts
On Sunday, I glance at appointments, routines, and commitments. It’s a quick mental scan of the week ahead so there are no surprises. Everything gets put in my planner as the most important things to get done that day.
2. Set Just 1–3 Realistic Priorities
I pick no more than three focus areas for the week, across both life and business. This helps me keep energy and expectations realistic.
3. Share Your Plans with Your Partner
We check in about schedules so nothing gets double-booked and both of us know when the other needs backup.
4. Brain Dump into a Flexible Tool
I drop everything into Notion — to-dos, reminders, meal ideas, anything I don’t want living rent-free in my head.

5. Adjust Your Plan on Monday
By Monday, something’s already changed (always!). I always review and shift my priorities in Notion so the plan matches reality.
6. Do a Midweek Check-In
I take 5–10 minutes to review my list and ask: Does this still need to get done? If I’m stuck, I’ll even have ChatGPT reorganize the rest of my week.

7. End the Week with a Quick Reflection
On Friday or Saturday, I jot down what felt good — not just what got done. I move any lingering to-dos into next week’s brain dump and release the rest so it’s not hanging over my weekend like an emotional diaper bag.
Why I Created The Simplified Weekly Reset™ in Notion
I love paper planners. Always have. My current one is still sitting on my desk — beautiful, blank, and totally unused (so sad!).
But with two kids under four home for the summer, paper just hasn’t worked. I need something I can update while wrangling small humans and searching for my iced coffee (again).
Notion became the one place that could hold it all: home, business, meals, routines, and the mental load in between. So I turned my weekly reset rhythm into The Simplified Weekly Reset™ — a done-for-you Notion template designed for moms who need structure that flexes.
It doesn’t expect perfection. It just gives you a place to start.

Build a Weekly Reset Routine That Works for Your Season
Your weekly reset doesn’t need to be aesthetic, color-coded, or even done on a Sunday.
It just needs to support the life you’re living right now.
Whether you’re navigating school transitions, in the thick of baby life, or trying to hold space for your own goals in the chaos, this rhythm gives you something to return to.
Start where you are. Keep what helps. Let the rest go.
