As a busy mom, staying on top of everything—family schedules, reminders, privacy, and even your home screen—can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, iOS 18 introduces some incredible features designed to simplify your life and help you stay organized.

In this post, I’m sharing my top 3 iOS 18 features that busy moms will love, along with how to set each one up. Let’s dive in!

Message Scheduling

Never Miss a Text Again

How often do you remember to send that important text, only to forget when the moment arrives? Whether it’s coordinating playdates, sending birthday wishes, or reminding your spouse about something, iOS 18’s Message Scheduling feature is a game-changer. You can now draft a message and schedule it to be sent at a specific time, so it goes out when it matters most—without you having to remember!

How to Set It Up

  • Open the Messages app and type out your message.
  • Press and hold on the send button (blue arrow).
    • The “press and hold” functionality is often called “long press”.
  • Select your desired send time and tap Send.

Locked and Hidden Apps

Extra Privacy for Sensitive Information

In a household with little hands always grabbing for your phone, privacy is key. With iOS 18, Apple has introduced Locked and Hidden Apps, allowing you to secure apps behind Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. You can even take it a step further by hiding the app entirely from your home screen.

This feature is perfect for busy moms who manage sensitive information like banking, health records, or private family photos. With Locked Apps, you can rest easy knowing your information is safe from curious kids or accidental access.

How to Set It Up

  • Press and hold on the app you want to lock and select Require Face ID.
  • Choose Require Face ID or Hide and Require Face ID.
    • Hide and require will remove the app from everywhere except a hidden folder in your App Library.
  • To access a hidden app, scroll to the bottom of your app library.
    • The hidden folder will need to be unlocked before you can access the hidden apps.

Personalize Your Home Screen and Control Center

Stay Organized and Efficient

With iOS 18, personalizing your Home Screen and Control Center is more flexible than ever.

Home Screen widgets enhancements include allowing you to interact with apps directly without opening them, letting you check off tasks, control media, and more right from the widget. Additionally, dynamic widget stacks intelligently adapt based on your usage, ensuring the most relevant information is always at your fingertips. You can even customize widget themes with light, dark, system, or tinted styles to match your Home Screen aesthetic.

The Control Center also offers enhanced customization, giving you more control over the tools you access daily. Features like Flashlight, Focus Mode, and more can be rearranged to fit your routine, streamlining how you manage your day. Together, these iOS 18 features simplify your workflow and make your iPhone a more powerful tool for managing your busy life.

How to Set It Up

  • Home Screen: Long-press on your home screen until the apps jiggle.
    • Tap the + icon in the top corner to add widgets, customize colors, and rearrange your apps for maximum efficiency.
  • Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen .
    • Press and hold anywhere on the screen or tap the “+” icon in the top left corner. From there, you can add, remove, and rearrange controls to fit your needs.
